Broad or wide pen set of two pens, one ballpoint, one fountain and both handmade.  These are wider than ‘normal’ everyday pens, which should make them easier to hold.  The lids unscrew, as does the ink section.

Please note, the fountain peg does not contain ink (to stop it potentially going dry).  It contains a cartridge which can be filled.

Both pens have been handmade from walnut wood by woodturning.  The wood has a slightly dark colour with natural grain.  I think the colour looks a little like mahogany.  The non-wooden parks are pale gold colour, with black detailing.

On the ballpoint ink tip there is a tiny bit of plastic which will fall off on the first use.  This is to keep the ink fresh.  The ink I believe is black.  It can be replaced.

If you like slightly heavier pens or wider pens, these might be perfect.  They are both narrower at the tip though.  I find they sit quite naturally in my hand.  The fountain pen weighs 43 grams (without ink), the ballpoint 48g.  These compare to a biro at 5g, parker ballpoint 12g, generic retractable 10g and zebra zero grip 9g.

I have a selection of handmade, broad pens on this website.  A local, talented woodturner has made these pens for Hobby Aids.  I wanted to stock some pens that were broader because if you have knobbly hands they might be comfier to use, but I also wanted pens that looked good.  To me, it’s important to have a pen you’re proud to own and use.
