Mahogany wood handmade pen with a broad, wide grip making it easy to hold. The pen has a retractable tip and black ink. Twisting the body brings the tip forward/back. The pen has been handmade from maple wood by woodturning. The wood has a dark, natural. Sandwiching the wood, the end and clip are black. The ink can be replaced. On the ink tip there is a tiny bit of plastic which will fall off on the first use. This is to keep the ink fresh.
If you like slightly heavier pens or wider pens, this might be perfect. It does narrow down to the tip a bit, however. It weighs 51 grams, compared to a biro at 5g, parker 12g, generic retractable 10g or zebra zero grip 9g.
I have a selection of handmade, broad pens on this website. A local, talented woodturner has made these pens for Hobby Aids. I wanted to stock some pens that were broader because if you have knobbly hands they might be comfier to use, but I also wanted pens that looked good. To me, it’s important to have a pen you’re proud to own and use.
