Travel sudoku puzzle book, in approx A5 size.  135 puzzles with 4 levels of difficulty, but also answers.  The book is spiral bound so really easy to keep open at a page.  It doesn’t call itself large print, but I think the text is large.  There is one puzzle per page, with lots of space for notes.  Printed on very slightly grey paper (looks like recycled paper) so helpful if you find black text on bright white paper hard to read.

Sudoku puzzles involve fitting numbers 1-9 in every line, column and box.  Some numbers are already included to give you a start.  They don’t require any maths or knowledge.  I find them quite relaxing.

I’ve done a very quick comparison of the type size compared to a couple of magazine crossword puzzles I’ve found.  Some photos are included.  I printed the alphabet in different point sizes of Arial to guess at the point size of the puzzle book.  I also measured the puzzle grid.  It’s not hugely scientific, but I hope it helps!  I’m also aware it’s a different type of puzzle to some.

  • Gardeners’ World magazine crossword – text 8pt, grid 8.3 cm by 8.3cm
  • Which? magazine crossword – text 7pt, grid 7.3cm by 7.3cm
  • I newspaper easy sudoku – text 15pt, grid 5.7cm by 5.7cm
  • This puzzle book sudoku – text 23pt, grid 8.6cm by 8.6cm

So this puzzle book has got quite a lot larger print (and the grid cells are bigger too).
