Zebra wood handmade pen with a broad grip and narrow waist making it easy to hold. The pen has a retractable tip and black ink. Twisting the body brings the tip forward/back. The pen has been handmade from zebra wood by woodturning. The wood has natural pale and dark grain (hence the name zebra wood) and natural slight shine. The end, clip and centre are black.
I find this pen very easy to hold. The narrow centre (waist) means it sits nicely in my hand. However, it does narrow down to the tip so if you need a wide tip, this one might not be ideal. The ink tip has got a little plastic cap, but this will flick off when it gets used. It’s to keep the ink fresh. It weighs 23 grams, compared to a biro at 5g, parker 12g, generic retractable 10g or zebra zero grip 9g. So it’s a little heavier than a plastic pen.
I have a selection of handmade, broad pens on this website. These pens have been made for Hobby Aids by a local, talented woodturner. I wanted to stock some pens that were broader because if you have knobbly hands they might be comfier to use, but I also wanted pens that looked good. To me, it’s important to have a pen you’re proud to own and use.
